Geology Graduate Admissions
Master's Admissions Standards:
- A Bachelor's degree in geology or a related field, or a very strong academic record and a willingness to make up their science/geology background.
- A grade-point average of at least 2.75.
- GPA's of 3.0 or higher are most competitive for financial support.
- Qualified students with lower GPA or non-traditional backgrouds may be accepted as Provisional students during their first semester.
PhD Admissions Standards:
- Minimum requirements are the same as for the M.S. although academic standards are higher.
- We only accept Ph.D. candidates who have established contact with a faculty member who is willing to act as their academic advisor.
International Applicants:
- International students must demonstrate competence in English prior to acceptance.
- A TOEFL score of at least 570 (paper test) or 230 (computer test) is required .
- Financial support as a Teaching Assistant requires a high level of spoken English fluency.
