Geology Graduate Admissions

The Department offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Geology. These degree programs allow students to pursue research and hands-on training in a wide range of areas aligned with faculty interesests. The M.S. degree is typically completed in two to three years. The Ph.D. typically requires from three to six years of study. There are currently approximately 30 graduate students in residence each year, with about 80% in the M.S. and 20% in the Ph.D. program.
