Environmental and Natural Resources Assessment

The newly-created WVU Environmental Research Center will facilitate multi-disciplinary research in a wide spectrum of environmental fields, including Ecosystem Restoration, Applied Hydrology, Natural Stream and Wetland Design, Environmental Management, Biogeography, Geo-Spatial Analysis, and Development of Environmental Industries. The Center is intended to bring WVU scholars from different colleges together to pursue large-scale projects beyond the reach of smaller research teams. Ongoing projects include a series of Natural Stream Principles Workshops for Engineers, a National Conference on the Economic Value of Ecosystem Restoration, and development of teams to write proposals for several large ($100,000 to $2,000,000) multi-disciplnary grants. Faculty from three different colleges have participated to date, including Drs. Kite, Vesper and Donovan in Geology &Geography, and wider participation is being actively solicited.
