MS in Geology Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I need to have a Geology undergraduate degree to apply for a Geology M.S.?
No, we often get applicants who are switching from other disciplines. We do require them to make up their basic science and geology background by taking undergraduate classes. If their course deficiencies are great, but they are highly qualified otherwise, we may admit them "conditionally" without finantial support. After they have proven themselves the first semester at WVU, they will become regular grad students elegible for finantial support (if available). Often the best strategy is for the applicant to start taking the missing basic science classes at their local college before they come to WVU.
