Text

The text is

Plummer, McGeary, and Carlson , Physical Geology, ELEVENTH edition (NOT ninth! NOT tenth!) .

It can be purchased used at WVU bookstore for $75. You also may be able to buy it on Amazon or others, but MAKE SURE YOU GET THE ELEVENTH EDITION.

I always get the question "should I buy the text?" The answer is: if you are the kind of person who likes to read in greater depth than the lecture, yes. If you don't read textbooks, no. 100% of the concepts on exams will be covered in lecture. But the book goes into greater depth. I tend to use figures that are important from the textbook in lecture slides and will make these available to you. Buying the text is better than not.

If you really want to squeeze a few pennies, you could use older editions of the book at much lower cost. For example, the 8th, 9th and 10th editions can be found on Amazon for under $20. In general, the content is nearly identical, and most of the graphics are the same. You won't be able to sell it back however.

If you buy it at the bookstore, they will buy it back for 50% of its used value in any semester that it is being taught. That's the best deal going for used buybacks. I teach the course with this book every fall. Dr. Kite uses it in spring.

If you plan on keeping the text, I suggest you get the hardback edition. It will be in better shape
