Grading Policy
 Tests
  •  Each test will focus on the material since the preceding test. This usually corresponds to four or five chapters in the textbook. Some topics that are not fully covered in the textbook will depend heavily on your lecture notes.
  • Picture ID and 700-ID number required for each test.
  • Bring a Blue Scantron Form no. 30423 (available at the bookstore, or at the Book Exchange)
  • Bring a #2 pencil

Make-Up Test
  •  If you missed one test for any reason you can take the make-up test.
  • It is a comprehensive test covering material from the entire semester.
  • This make-up will be given on Wed. Dec. 5 at 7:00 PM in the 419 and 415 computer labs in Brooks Hall (4th floor).

 Grading
  •  Each test is worth 100 points.
  • There is no extra credit. Letter grades will be based on the following scale:
    • A >85%
    • B 84-71%
    • C 70-55%
    • D 54-40%
    • F <40%
  • In the past this has worked out so that the class average is a middle C and there are about:
    • 7% A's and F's, 23 % B's and D's , and 40% C's

How to get a good grade
  • Come to all the lectures.
  • Take good notes.
  • Keep up with the reading. Do not wait for the night before the test to read four chapters of geology.
  • Allow yourself enough time to study for the tests.
  • If you do not understand something get help from the professor, the TA, or from your peers.

Days of Special Concern
Students must notify their instructors by the end of the third class meeting regarding religious observances that will affect their attendance. I will make reasonable accommodation for tests that a student misses as a result of religious observance.
