DR. MURIEL YEBOAH - Graduated with a Geography PhD in 2008. Muriel's work includes gender and livelihoods, migration, Africa and urban planning. Her research involved an in-depth study of livelihood strategies among Kayayei or porters in Accra, Ghana. Muriel completed her Masters degree at Miami University of Ohio in 2003. She conducted her doctoral research in Ghana and recently completed her dissertation. email: mayeboah@memphis.edu
DR. KIM CORDINGLY - Graduated from WVU in 2007 with a PhD in Geography. Kim has interests in disability studies, virtual environments, the body, and cultural identity. Kim is employed at the Job Accommodation Network at West Virginia University where she works on disabilities and employment issues. email: cordingly@jan.icdi.edu
DR. AMY PRATT - Graduated in 2006 with PhD in Geography. Amy did comparative research on women in Appalachia and South Africa. Her areas of interest are feminist geography, South Africa, rural development, and postcolonial theory. She did her Master's degree at WVU in geography on economic networks and cooperatives among rural South African women. DR. SEELA ALADUWAKA - Ph.D. Seela has work experience and research interests in women's micro-enterprise development in Sri Lanka. Seela completed her dissertation titled "Credit Programs, Poverty Alleviation and Women's Empowerment: A Case Study from Sri Lanka." Upon returning to Sri Lanka, she started teaching at Peradeniya University. She is currently on sabbatical in the U.S. where she is based at the Geography Department in SUNY-Buffalo. email: seela_aladuwaka@yahoo.com
DR. BETH ERICKSON - Graduated from WVU in 2001 with a Ph.D. in Recreation, Parks and Tourism in Natural Resources. Beth has taken some geography seminars and been a guest lecturer in several geography courses, so I guess we can claim her as (almost) one of us. Her research and teaching interests concern minority access to national parks, environmental education, and natural resource use.
BRIE FREY - Graduated with an M.A. in Geography and a B.A. in environmental geosciences from WVU. Brie spent six months in South Africa as part of the McNair Scholars Program and did her thesis work on gender and the environment.
