About
Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity
Pursuit of the WVU land-grant mission coincides with actively supporting an environment where everyone can flourish in their educational, research and service work.
The mission of the WVU Department of Geology and Geography Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity is to address historic and persistent practices of exclusion and inequality around race, gender identity, sexuality and other identities within our department and at WVU, as well as in our professional disciplines.
The DEI Committee works toward the following aims:
-
Keep our students, faculty and staff informed and educated about past and present problems related to diversity, equity and inclusion;
-
Identify our departmental and institutional weaknesses around these problems, and
-
Seek solutions that ensure every student, faculty and staff are fully valued as members of our academic community.
The DEI Committee is open to all interested faculty who wish to learn about and contribute to the ongoing work of creating an equitable department and institution.
